The by-product of a great era in South Florida punk rock
music, Hit Play! is made up of some of Miami’s most passionate and long-standing
local musicians. The band consists of Danny Gonzalez (vocals), Gaston de la Vega
(bass), Johnny Underpaid (guitar), Raf Solo (guitar), and Rich Robinson (drums).
Gonzalez holds the mic for Hit Play! and brings a fresh and eager approach to
his seasoned band mates’ long histories in the scene. Before joining Hit Play!,
Danny lived in Clearwater, FL. and fronted Uppercut, Crooked Edge and Hero of
Our Time. Gaston cut his teeth in The Stop Motion, Jorges, Han & The
Wookies, Precisely Edison, and 3 Buzzed & Waiting. Johnny had stints with
The Anti-Fuzz, Out of Focus, as well as local favorite Underpaid. Raf Solo honed
his chops with United82, Polly Esther, and Pitch Black Radio, racking up
multiple national tours, including several Vans Warped Tours. Finally, Rich
spent years touring the world with Miami Psychobilly legends The Van Orsedels,
as well as MadMartigan, with whom he shared a stage with The
Necromantics. Individually, each member of Hit Play! brings a unique approach to their tried and true style of 90s punk rock. Together, they have gained local notoriety by playing some huge shows in the South Florida area and landing reviews in publications including the Miami New Times. Now, with the release of their debut EP “In Case of Emergency…”, and their recently wrapped video for "The Lie Detector..." they are ready for anything.
